Michael Phelp won 400 Medley Gold, Break World Record
On the 2nd day of 2008 Beijing Olympics American Swimming sensation Michael Phelp set a new World record on Sunday, 10th August, 2008 after winning the first of a potential eight Gold medals.Phelps, wearing the new form-fitting Speedo LZR Racer swimsuit, launched an American charge to compete with the host China in the medal race. Michael Phelp successfully opened his bid to break Mark Spitz's 35-year record of seven golds at one Games by winning the men's 400m individual medley.
With US President George W. Bush applauding in the stands, Phelps carved 1.41 seconds off his mark of 4:05.25 set last June.
